Highlights from the Goiânia International Championship

Yesterday, April 6th, the city of Goiânia hosted one of the most anticipated events for Jiu Jitsu enthusiasts: the Goiânia International Championship. This competition, an integral part of the PBJJF (Professional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) Grand Slam, attracted athletes from across the country in search of crucial points for the federation’s overall ranking and a coveted prize: the Free Pass to the World Championship, which includes airfare, accommodation, and free registration for the champion of the adult black belt and master 1 categories.

The highlight of the competition was Lafayette Ferreira, who shone by achieving the Double Gold in the Adult category, triumphing in the up to 94kg categories and in the Absolute. His exceptional performance showcased the strength and technique of Brazilian athletes on the international Jiu Jitsu stage. Other notable names included Cristiano Freitas, who achieved Double Gold in the category up to 101kg and in the Master 1 and 2 Absolute, and Gustavo Endrigo, who dominated the category up to 85kg and the Master 2, 3, and 4 Absolute.

In addition to the individual battles, the competition was also marked by intense competition in the adult team ranking. Atrium BJJ secured first place, demonstrating the technical excellence and teamwork of the academy. In second place was the renowned Gracie Barra, closely followed by SixBlades Jiu Jitsu, which secured the third position.The Goiânia International Championship was more than just a Jiu Jitsu competition; it was a true spectacle of skill, perseverance, and passion for the sport. The competitors left everything on the mat in pursuit of glory, and the audience witnessed moments of pure emotion and refined technique. This stage of the circuit promised many thrills and showed that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu continues to be stronger and more competitive than ever.
