Last weekend, on March 9th, the Bolivian mats witnessed an impressive display of skill and determination at the PBJJF Santa Cruz Summer Open. Among the competitors, one name stood out: Gabriel Santos, representing the Black Belt São João Del Rei team.
Gabriel Santos didn’t just participate; he completely dominated the event, claiming the top spot on the podium in multiple categories. In the medium brown belt Gi and NoGi categories, as well as in the brown/black belt Absolute Gi and NoGi, Gabriel showcased his prowess and flawless technique, leaving his opponents trailing behind.
Hailing from the interior of Minas Gerais, Gabriel shared his journey of dedication and growth in the gentle art. In his own words: “It’s been several years of hard work and learning, and now I can feel comfortable fighting, with a lot of calmness and strategy. That way, I can get into the game and always deliver my best performance, fight after fight.”
Gabriel’s success comes as no surprise to those who know him. This year, he has already crowned himself as the nogi World Champion by the CBJJE, and now, he aims for more victories and the opportunity to feel the energy of competing at PBJJF again.
