Last Saturday, April 27th, BJJ STARS held its twelfth edition at Komplexo Tempo in São Paulo, offering jiu-jitsu fans a night full of action and excitement. The event featured an impressive card, consisting of eight super fights and a Grand Prix in the light heavyweight division.
GP Dominated by Fellipe Andrew, Uanderson Showcase Forward-Thinking Jiu Jitsu
In the GP, all first-round matches were ended by submission, showcasing the competitors’ skill. Isaque Bahiense submitted Francisco Lo, and Uanderson Ferreira submitted Maurício Oliveira, securing their spots in the title contention. Fellipe Andrew prevailed over Léo Lara, and Gustavo Batista defeated Gabriel Brod. In the semifinals, Andrew faced an inspired Isaque, securing his spot in the final with a submission victory. Uanderson Ferreira secured his win against Gustavo Batista, earning a Double Leg takedown and maintaining the lead until the end. In the GP final, Andrew confirmed his favoritism by submitting Ferreira via kata-gatame after scoring 13 points, clinching the BJJ STARS light heavyweight title with a remarkable performance.
In the Super Fights, Piter Clinches Victory, Mey Shines and A Rod Aims to Unify the title
In the super fights, Jeferson Santos’ victory over Hugo Souza, Sabrina Gordin defeating Larissa Martins, and Pedro Veras overcoming Ygor Rodrigues. The lightweight title bout between Júlia Alves and Luiza Monteiro was also a standout of the night, with Alves emerging victorious after an intense battle.
Anna Rodrigues defeated her namesake Ana Schmitt by points, securing the belt and victory. Anna then challenged newly crowned Júlia Alves to unify the titles. Another highly anticipated bout was between Vitor Shaolin and Adriano Silva, with Silva emerging victorious despite Shaolin’s legendary hook guard.
Additionally, the fight between Piter Frank and Celsinho Venicius received special recognition as the best fight of the night, with Frank securing the victory and the belt in a match full of twists and turns.
